The Australian National University is hiring a postdoc in perovskite solar cells for a major ARENA-funded project developing low-cost, scalable perovskite–silicon tandem solar modules (position 563627).

About the perovskite solar cells postdoc

  • Develop and optimise perovskite solar cells and perovskite–silicon tandem devices
  • Develop scalable thin-film deposition and large-area, flexible module fabrication
  • Characterise devices, improve their performance and test their stability
  • Analyse results and write publications, reports and presentations
  • Work with academic and industry partners to move the technology towards commercial use

The project is funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and involves industry partners named in the ad: Halocell Energy, Tindo Solar and Greatcell Solar Materials. The ad points to ANU’s photovoltaic characterisation facilities and close collaboration with other Australian research institutions.

Why this role matters

Perovskite–silicon tandems have already passed the efficiency limit of silicon cells in the lab; the open questions are stability and making large modules cheaply.   • A PhD or relevant research experience in photovoltaics, perovskite solar cells, semiconductor devices, materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field

  • Experience in perovskite photovoltaics, tandem solar cells, thin-film deposition, large-area device fabrication or PV characterisation

Pay and location

The salary package is A$91,546 to A$141,317 a year plus 17% superannuation, depending on appointment at Level A or Level B. The post is full time and fixed term for up to two years, with possible extension subject to funding and performance. The preferred candidate must complete pre-employment declarations and background checks.

How to prepare for this application
