EPFL’s Artificial Intelligence in Molecular Medicine (AIMM) Lab, led by Prof. Charlotte Bunne, is recruiting a postdoc in generative AI to develop new generative models, training methods and foundation-model technology.

About the generative AI postdoc at EPFL
- Develop generative models such as diffusion models, flow matching, autoregressive models and normalizing flows
- Work on foundation-model design: new pre-training objectives, scalable architectures, tokenization and adaptation
- Improve large-scale training, including distributed training, efficient fine-tuning, evaluation and deployment
- Advance multimodal representation learning and generative modelling across different data types

The lab sits between computer science, AI and biomedicine and is affiliated with EPFL’s School of Computer and Communication Sciences, its School of Life Sciences and the EPFL AI Center. The ad stresses that the post is methodological and that prior work with biological data is not required. It comes with dedicated compute on the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) and the Swiss AI Initiative.
Why this role matters

- A PhD in machine learning, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or a closely related field, completed or nearly completed
- Shown expertise in generative AI, such as diffusion models, flow matching, normalizing flows, VAEs or generative transformers
- Strong programming skills with modern deep-learning frameworks
- Experience with large-scale or distributed model training
- A strong publication record at top machine-learning conferences or in relevant journals
Pay and location
