Job Description
This quantum computer hardware engineer job in Singapore is with Quantinuum. You will help run and maintain a Helios trapped-ion quantum computer installed on site in Singapore. The system is part of Quantinuum’s partnership with Singapore’s National Quantum Office.
At a glance
- Position: Quantum Computer Hardware Engineer (job 1058), full time
- Where: Singapore, on site
- Team: Quantum Computing Hardware, Science & Technology
- Pay: Not stated in the posting
- Posted: 8 October 2026

About the Helios quantum computer hardware role
- Run and maintain the on-site Helios quantum computer as part of a small team
- Carry out regular maintenance on its electrical, mechanical and optical subsystems
- Find and fix hardware faults so the machine can return to service
- Update and improve the maintenance and operations documents
- Work with local and global teams on maintenance and troubleshooting
Day to day, you solve hard problems with your hands. The work covers optics, mechanics and electronics. You also help set operating standards and improve how reliably the machine runs.
Why this role matters
Few people anywhere get to keep a commercial quantum computer running outside the maker’s own lab. This role puts you next to one in Asia. It builds rare skills in lasers, vacuum systems and trapped-ion hardware that are in short supply.
What Quantinuum is looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in physics, applied physics, optics or a hands-on engineering field
- Two or more years of lab R&D experience, in a university (degree years count) or in industry
- Hands-on work building, testing, tuning, maintaining and fixing a complex scientific set-up or engineered product
- Clear spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel abroad for training or work, sometimes at short notice
- Citizenship rule: the posting says that, because of US Government national-security rules, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless they are also US citizens
Nice to have
- A master’s degree in physics, applied physics, optics or engineering
- Experience with atomic physics systems, superconducting qubits or other quantum computing platforms
- Lasers, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum, lab hardware control, and digital and analog electronics
- Python, plus instrumentation, automation or test engineering
- Clear technical writing, talks or publications
- Experience working across countries and time zones
- Work authorisation in Singapore that does not need visa sponsorship (listed as something the company values)
Pay and location
The posting gives no salary figure. It mentions competitive pay and flexible work arrangements. The role is full time and on site in Singapore. The posting says applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and there is no application deadline.
How to apply
Apply through the official Quantinuum job posting. Quantinuum’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 13 November 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application
- Prepare one story about a complex set-up you kept running: what broke, how you found it, and how you fixed it
- Revise laser basics: alignment, fibre coupling, frequency locking and beam profiling
- Know ultra-high vacuum practice: pumps, bake-outs, leak checks and pressure gauges
- Read Quantinuum's public material on its trapped-ion systems so you know the basic architecture
- Show any Python you wrote to control instruments or log data
- Check your nationality and Singapore work authorisation against the posting before applying
