Why this role matters

Few Indian postdocs focus on deep learning for map and satellite data. This one sits in a dedicated data science department. The pay is the standard institute rate, and a second year is possible. It is also a good way to gain teaching experience before faculty applications.

Eligibility

• A PhD in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field from a recognised institute or university
• You may apply if you have submitted your thesis. You must then give the provisional or degree certificate within six months of joining. If you do not, the appointment can be cancelled
• Preference goes to candidates below 35 years of age on the last date. The advertisement sets no strict age limit
• Indian nationals only

Pay and duration

• Rs 67,000 a month plus HRA as per institute rules
• If your thesis is submitted but the degree is not yet awarded: Rs 35,000 a month plus HRA. The full rate starts from the date your degree or provisional degree is awarded
• Initial tenure of one year. It may be extended by one more year if your work is satisfactory
• No medical reimbursement. Insurance of at least Rs 1 lakh is compulsory
