Job Description
Solid Power is hiring a senior scientist in solid-state battery R&D in Louisville, Colorado. You will lead catholyte development, the electrolyte mixed into the cathode. The posted pay is US$105,000 to US$145,000 a year. You will also manage one to three scientists.
At a glance
- Role: Catholyte R&D Senior Scientist (Sr. Scientist I)
- Where: Louisville, Colorado, USA, on-site
- Field: Solid electrolytes in cathode composites
- Pay: US$105,000 to US$145,000 a year, plus bonus and equity eligibility
- Team: Manages 1 to 3 scientists
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 23 November 2026)
About the solid-state battery catholyte role
- Lead catholyte product development as its technical owner
- Understand transport, interface stability, microstructure and mechanical limits of electrolytes in cathodes
- Use electrochemistry, microscopy and characterisation to link structure to performance
- Develop new characterisation methods
- Manage and mentor scientists, and work with modelling, engineering and manufacturing on scale-up
- Work with customers, write invention disclosures and patents, and lead on lab safety
Why this role matters
Solid-state cells could store more energy and burn less easily than today’s lithium-ion cells. The cathode interface is one of the hardest problems left. This role owns that problem at a company that works with carmakers.
What Solid Power is looking for
- PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrochemistry or a related field, or a master’s with major relevant industry experience
- A record of leading complex R&D projects
- Strong electrochemistry basics and mastery of methods such as three-electrode tests, impedance, DRT, voltammetry or chrono techniques
- Materials characterisation skills, and a record of mentoring and innovation
- Able to work in the lab with PPE, including a full-face respirator or PAPR
Pay and location
The posting gives a salary range of US$105,000 to US$145,000 a year. It adds bonus and equity eligibility, a 401k match, unlimited paid time off and paid holidays. The job may need access to export-controlled technology, so it can depend on a government licence. A background check is required. The posting says nothing about visa sponsorship. It will stay open until filled.
How to apply
Apply through the official Solid Power job posting. Solid Power’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 23 November 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.
