Job Description

OpenAI is hiring an Applied AI Architect in India to act as the senior technical owner for a named group of enterprise and digital-native customers, shaping their AI strategy and guiding them from early evaluation to production use of ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex and other agentic solutions.

What you will do

• Be the main technical adviser and long-term relationship owner for a portfolio of customers and prospects
• Own the technical account plan, milestones, adoption priorities and expansion opportunities alongside Account Directors
• Lead discovery with executives and technical teams to find and prioritise use cases tied to business outcomes
• Design architectures covering models, applications, data, integration, security, privacy, governance, evaluation and deployment
• Run technical evaluations, demos, workshops, prototypes and proofs of value
• Track adoption, usage, account health and production readiness, and share customer insights with Product, Engineering and Research

The posting describes the role as the “CTO of your book of business”. An Account Director owns the commercial strategy, while the architect owns the technical account plan, the customer journey and the path to production value, bringing in deployment, security, product and partner specialists where deeper expertise is needed.

What OpenAI is looking for

• Significant experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions architecture, solutions engineering, technical account leadership or AI deployment
• A record of guiding enterprises from evaluation to production adoption and measurable impact
• Strong software and cloud architecture foundations: APIs, distributed systems, data integration, identity, security and privacy
• Understanding of modern AI systems, LLMs, agentic applications, evaluation and retrieval
• The ability to prototype and work with APIs, SDKs and languages such as Python or JavaScript
• Credibility with senior leaders and engineers alike, plus relevant industry or digital-native expertise

Pay and location
