Amazon Payroll Tech’s Sheriff team is hiring an Applied Scientist II in Hyderabad. About the payroll systems
The team’s Policy as Code Extraction work is part of SPACE, the in-house payroll engine Amazon built so that it no longer depends on outside vendors for payroll processing. Business owners pick a pay code and link a policy; the system generates rules, and other services call it in real time to check pay instructions and get a reason for any failure.
What Amazon is looking for
- At least 3 years of building models for business applications
- A PhD, or a master’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in CS, CE, ML or a related field
- Patents or publications at top peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Programming in Java, C++, Python or a related language
- Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimisation, data mining, or parallel, distributed or high-performance computing
Nice to have
- Experience using Unix/Linux
- Experience in professional software development
- Communicating research findings in writing and in person
- LLM fundamentals, including architecture, training and inference lifecycles and optimising model execution, or experience leading a team
