Amazon’s Retail Business Services (RBS) Tech team is hiring an Applied Scientist II in Bengaluru. The team finds and fixes customer experience defects at scale across the shopping journey and builds GenAI platforms that automate store operations. Its science work covers multimodal understanding of text and images, LLM agents for task automation, multi-label classification, topic extraction from customer feedback, and similarity and retrieval for spotting duplicate listings.

About the RBS Tech science role
- Design and deploy scalable GenAI, NLP and computer vision solutions that affect content seen by millions of customers
- Develop LLM, deep learning and statistical methods for task automation, text and image processing and anomaly detection
- Set research and experiment strategy and improve models iteratively
- Partner with business and engineering teams, and coach and mentor others
What Amazon is looking for
- A PhD or a master’s degree
- 1 year of applied research with a PhD, or at least 3 years with a master’s, in EE, CS, CE, mathematics or a related field specialising in ML, NLP, CV, deep learning or GenAI
- Expertise in either computer vision or NLP, with good understanding of both
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to have
- A postgraduate degree specialising in ML, NLP or computer vision
- Strong communication across research and technical teams
- A track record of scientific contributions
