Amazon’s Customer Fulfillment and Prime analytics team (IES CFX and Prime) is hiring a data scientist in Bengaluru. The role builds ML and statistical systems that detect abuse, such as fraudulent customer behaviour, rings of linked accounts, identity changes and marketplace manipulation, across more than ten countries. It also uses generative AI to automate how customer promotions are handled.

About the CFX and Prime data scientist role

• Build scalable abuse-detection models for fraud, linked-account rings, identity change and customer risk
• Use GenAI to automate customer promotion workflows
• Design, build and deploy end-to-end ML in Amazon’s production environment
• Work with business, science and engineering teams on models that scale to millions of customers
• Build automated processes for analysis, model development, validation and deployment

What Amazon is looking for

• At least 3 years with SQL, a scripting language such as Python, or statistical software such as R, SAS or MATLAB
• At least 3 years as a data or research scientist, statistician or quantitative analyst at an internet company with complex big data
• At least 1 year creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers or educational content
• A master’s degree in a STEM field, or equivalent STEM work experience

Nice to have

• A PhD in a STEM field
• Statistical and BI tools such as SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS or R
• Clustered data processing (Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, Hive)
• Working with or evaluating AI systems
