About the AB Ops data scientist role

• Apply data science to hard customer or business problems where the approach is unclear
• Find opportunities to automate and optimise internal and external products
• Dig into data and existing models to find defects or inefficiencies in the AB Ops use case, and propose fixes
• Build SQL and ETL pipelines, and analyse data for trends, anomalies and input validity
• Build and validate statistical, econometric, network, NLP and machine learning models against business KPIs

What Amazon is looking for

• At least 2 years of data scientist experience
• At least 3 years with SQL, a scripting language such as Python, or statistical software such as R, SAS or MATLAB
• At least 3 years with machine learning and statistical modelling tools and techniques
• At least 1 year guiding or coaching a group of researchers, and at least 1 year working with or evaluating AI systems
• At least 1 year creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers or educational content
• A master’s degree in a STEM field, or equivalent STEM work experience

Nice to have

• A PhD in a STEM field
• Machine learning or data science experience at a large technology company
• Defining benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
• Multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects and quantitative business analysis
