About the AB Ops data scientist role
- Apply data science to hard customer or business problems where the approach is unclear
- Find opportunities to automate and optimise internal and external products
- Dig into data and existing models to find defects or inefficiencies in the AB Ops use case, and propose fixes
- Build SQL and ETL pipelines, and analyse data for trends, anomalies and input validity
- Build and validate statistical, econometric, network, NLP and machine learning models against business KPIs
What Amazon is looking for
- At least 2 years of data scientist experience
- At least 3 years with SQL, a scripting language such as Python, or statistical software such as R, SAS or MATLAB
- At least 3 years with machine learning and statistical modelling tools and techniques
- At least 1 year guiding or coaching a group of researchers, and at least 1 year working with or evaluating AI systems
- At least 1 year creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers or educational content
- A master’s degree in a STEM field, or equivalent STEM work experience
Nice to have
- A PhD in a STEM field
- Machine learning or data science experience at a large technology company
- Defining benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
- Multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects and quantitative business analysis
