Job Description
Figure’s Helix team is hiring perception engineers to help its Figure 03 humanoid carry out dynamic tasks in demanding real environments. The work spans onboard computer vision, localisation, visuomotor policies and offline data annotation, owned from idea to deployment. Candidates need domain expertise in at least one of 3D vision, VIO/SLAM, vision-language models or diffusion models.
At a glance
- Team: Helix AI – Perception
- Location: San Jose, California (five days a week in the office)
- Pay: $200,000 – $400,000 a year, as listed
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)
What you would do
- Develop perception systems: onboard computer vision, localisation, visuomotor policies and offline annotation
- Own the product life cycle from ideation to deployment
- Deliver reliable software for real-world use
- Work across teams to improve the autonomy stack
Why this role matters
A humanoid working in a warehouse or home has to understand where it is and what is around it in real time, often while moving and handling objects. Perception is therefore the base of everything else the robot does. Figure’s robots are already doing commercial work, so perception improvements show up quickly in real deployments.
What Figure AI is looking for
- Extensive production-level software and ML engineering experience
- Strong foundations in probability, optimisation and linear algebra
- Expertise in 3D vision, VIO/SLAM, vision-language models or diffusion models
- Command of geometric computer vision: perspective transforms, pinhole camera model, epipolar geometry
Nice to have
- CUDA and real-time performance optimisation
- Data tools such as Spark or Ray
- A strong publication record and deployed perception systems
Pay and location
Figure lists $200,000 to $400,000 a year for this role.
How to apply
Apply through the official Figure AI job posting. Figure AI’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application
- Pick your specialty: 3D vision, SLAM, VLMs or diffusion; lead with it.
- Geometry basics: expect questions on camera models and epipolar geometry.
- Production code: show perception systems that ran reliably, not only research code.
- Speed: CUDA or real-time optimisation experience stands out.
About Figure AI
