PsiQuantum is hiring a Photonic Circuits Designer for its Circuits team in Palo Alto. The team sits between hardware development, manufacturing and system architecture, and this role combines data-driven circuit analysis with building parts of PsiQuantum’s in-house design software.

About the photonic circuits designer role

• Work with photonics, electronics and test engineers on data-driven circuit analysis
• Design software features that meet requirements for parts of the in-house design flow
• Develop methods to evaluate implementation concepts and decide whether they are feasible
• Extract predictive models, run analyses and carry out design checks on circuits

In a photonic quantum computer, every decibel of optical loss and every imperfect component turns into errors, so the quality, consistency and manufacturability of photonic devices matter as much as the architecture. These engineering roles work on that foundation.

What PsiQuantum is looking for

• A PhD or equivalent in electrical engineering, physics, computer science or a related field
• The ability to work in a new area, designing first-of-their-kind photonic circuits
• Python programming
• The ability to work across domains with multidisciplinary technical teams

Nice to have

• High-speed electro-optic phase shifters
• Photonic circuit concepts and GDS layout
• Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Working knowledge of quantum computing or quantum mechanics
• Analogue or digital electrical circuit design
• Production web development in JavaScript/TypeScript with React, Svelte or Vue

Pay and location

PsiQuantum lists base pay by location zone, from US$139,800–164,300 in zone 1 (Bay Area and New York City) to US$97,900–115,000 in zone 4 (for example Nashville, Phoenix and many remote locations). The role is listed in Palo Alto, California.
