Job Description
Empa’s Laboratory for Building Energy Materials and Components is hiring a postdoctoral researcher in shaped CO2 adsorbents and sorbent ageing, as part of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research “Separations” led by EPFL. The postdoc will study chemical and structural ageing of sorbents, develop accelerated and high-throughput ageing tests, and create scalable shaping and coating methods, with room for independent ideas. The contract is two years.

What Empa is looking for
- A doctorate or equivalent in porous materials, surface or adsorption/separation science or a related field
- Curiosity, independence and teamwork
- Excellent English
Nice to have
- Sorbent characterisation: BET, breakthrough, SEM, TEM, TGA, FTIR, NMR
- Synthesis or shaping of solid sorbents
- Sorbent modelling and ageing prediction
Pay and location
