Job Description
MAX IV Laboratory at Lund University is recruiting a postdoc in X-ray tomography for sustainable materials to help build TomoWISE, a new tomography beamline for materials science. You will join the beamline team during installation and commissioning, help set up reconstruction and image-analysis software, and run your own research on materials for sustainability.

About the X-ray tomography postdoc at MAX IV
- Help install and commission beamline instruments: optics, sample stages and detectors
- Implement software for tomographic reconstruction and image analysis with the beamline team
- Lead your own research programme on materials for sustainability, within national and international collaborations
- Present and publish results; engage with MAX IV’s user community
- Take part in the beamline’s first science programme, with early commissioning of the large-beam option possible in 2028
What Lund University is looking for
- A PhD in a STEM field, normally completed no more than three years before the deadline
- Research experience in materials science or in tomography method development
- Experimental work in microscopy and imaging, preferably with X-rays, including instruments, commissioning and data analysis
- A record of taking projects from proposal to publication
- Fluent English
Nice to have
- Experience at large user facilities and in large collaborations
- Scientific programming
- AI/ML methods for reconstruction, segmentation or quantitative image analysis
Pay and location
The advert does not state a salary. Lund University postdocs are employed full time on fixed-term contracts of two to three years under the Swedish postdoc agreement.
