Prof. Volker Lauschke’s research programme at Karolinska Institutet is hiring a postdoctoral researcher in population pharmacogenetics. The project focuses on genetic diversity in African populations and how it affects drug response: finding and characterising variants that matter for efficacy, pharmacokinetics and adverse drug reactions in large genomic and pharmacogenomic datasets, and prioritising some of them for experimental validation.

About the pharmacogenetics postdoc
- Genotype-phenotype analyses and characterisation of pharmacogene haplotypes
- Rare and structural variant analysis, and computational prediction of variant function

What Karolinska Institutet is looking for
- A PhD in pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics, human genetics, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, pharmacology or a close field (within three years is an advantage)
- Documented pharmacogenetic or human genetics research, preferably in African or other genetically diverse, under-represented populations
- Experience analysing NGS data: targeted, whole-exome and/or whole-genome sequencing
- Strong computational genetics: variant annotation and prioritisation, association analyses and population-genetic methods
- Pharmacogene-specific analysis of drug-metabolising enzymes, transporters or drug targets, and programming in R or Python
Nice to have
- Rare-variant, haplotype, structural or splice-variant analysis
- Computational prediction of functional consequences of variants
Pay and location
KI sets salaries individually and the advert gives no figure. The post is full time at Campus Solna.
