The project is SSP0163: “Developing Patentable Fabrication Process for HFCL Proprietary Product i.e. Silica Based Nested Antiresonant Nodeless Fiber for Next Generation Optical Communication Networks”. The advertisement is 56/2627/FOPD/SSP0163/DG. The post is open to Indian citizens.

About the hollow-core fibre project assistant post

  • Help fabricate silica hollow-core fibres, where light travels mostly in air inside the core
  • Handle glass tubes, preforms and lab machines
  • Help with optical, fibre-optic and optomechanical lab work
  • Use CAD software and basic computer tools for drawings and records

The ad lists skills only. The points above follow those skills and the project title.

Why this role matters

Hollow-core fibre is one of the biggest changes in optical cables in decades. It carries data faster and with less delay. This project aims at a patentable Indian process with a major Indian cable maker.

Eligibility

  • B.Sc in Physics; or a 3-year diploma in Electronics, Mechanical or Electrical engineering or technology; with at least 60% marks or equivalent GPA
  • Desirable: experience in electronics, machine handling, glass handling or electrical work
  • Desirable: basic computer skills, CAD software, and lab skills in optics, fibre optics and optomechanics
  • Age: up to 35 years on the interview date. Relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, physically handicapped and female candidates, and by 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer)

Candidates with results awaited are not eligible. If you already work on a project anywhere, attach a NOC from your project leader. Work out your percentage from CGPA using your university’s rule, and attach that rule. Bring originals and self-attested copies to the interview. Report one hour before the start time; late arrivals are not allowed in.

Pay and duration

  • ₹20,000 a month + HRA
  • 15% increment for 3 years of experience in the same project
  • 1 year to start, extendable up to 29 January 2028, based on funds

How to apply

Type the prescribed application form; the ad asks for a typed form. Email it with self-attested soft copies of your certificates to recruitment.cgcri@csir.res.in by 1 November 2026. The walk-in interview is on 3 November 2026 from 2:30 pm at CSIR-CGCRI. Apply separately for each post you want.

Key dates

  • Last date to email the application: 1 November 2026
  • Walk-in interview: 3 November 2026, from 2:30 pm (report one hour early)

How to prepare for this application

  • Know what a hollow-core fibre is: thin glass rings guide light in an air core, giving low delay and low nonlinearity.
  • Learn the stack-and-draw idea: glass tubes are stacked into a preform, then drawn into fibre on a draw tower.
  • Show careful hands: describe any work with glassware, fine tools or machines.
  • Revise basic CAD: be ready to say which CAD tool you have used and for what.
  • Prepare documents early: typed form, marks with the CGPA rule, category proof and any NOC.
