PsiQuantum is offering a quantum applications internship with its Australian applications team. Interns can work from PsiQuantum’s Brisbane office or remotely from anywhere in Australia, and work closely with the rest of the applications team on algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computers.

PsiQuantum builds its quantum computers from photons on silicon chips. Photonic qubits are naturally suited to networking and to fusion-based quantum computing, but they need error-correction schemes and algorithms designed around photon loss and the architecture’s building blocks, which is the kind of problem these roles work on.
Who this internship suits
This internship suits master’s and PhD students in quantum information, physics, computer science or mathematics who want to see how algorithm research is done inside a company that is building fault-tolerant hardware. Because the Australian team accepts remote interns from anywhere in the country, students outside Queensland can apply too.
What PsiQuantum is looking for
- A background in quantum computing or quantum information at postgraduate level, or close to it
- Programming ability, for example in Python
- Curiosity and the ability to work closely with a research team
