Job Description
Welinq is hiring a quantum error correction researcher for its Algorithms and Distributed Quantum Computing Team in Paris. The team designs quantum algorithms for distributed and multi-core architectures, where several quantum processors are linked by a quantum network. Your focus will be distributed quantum error correction: making error correction work across networked processors with good scalability, fault tolerance and performance, and turning theory into practical implementations with Welinq’s hardware and software teams.
At a glance
- Role: Quantum Error Correction Researcher
- Team: Algorithms and Distributed Quantum Computing
- Location: Paris, France
- Degree: PhD in quantum computing, quantum networking, computer science, physics, mathematics or similar
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)
What the role covers
- Do research on quantum error correction, especially distributed error correction, with attention to scalability, fault tolerance and performance
- Turn theoretical approaches into practical implementations with hardware and software teams, end users and quantum computer makers
- Work across physics, engineering and software to match hardware and algorithms
- Follow the latest work in error correction, algorithms, quantum networking and distributed quantum computing
- Publish papers, present at conferences and contribute to patents and new algorithm designs
What Welinq is looking for
- A PhD in quantum computing, quantum networking, computer science, physics, mathematics or a related field
- A solid background in quantum computing or quantum information
- Research experience in quantum error correction
- Familiarity with leading software platforms and tools for error correction and quantum computing
- Strong problem solving and the ability to work in a collaborative research team
Nice to have
- Publications in quantum error correction and distributed quantum computing
- Hands-on design and simulation of error-correction schemes

How to prepare for this application
- Read recent work on distributed surface codes and on how noisy inter-module links affect error thresholds.
- Prepare to present one of your error-correction results and how it would change with networked modules.
- Show code you wrote for decoding or simulating error correction.
- Look at Welinq's araQne and CUDA-Q announcement to see how its software side fits in.
About Welinq
Welinq is a Paris start-up building quantum networks that link quantum processors (QPUs) inside data centres, based on neutral-atom hardware and qubit–photon interfaces. In 2026 it announced collaborations with Pasqal, OVHcloud and NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform for networked and distributed quantum computing.
