Job Description

Generate:Biomedicines is hiring a Computational Protein Design Scientist for its Model-Driven Design team, which brings together ML scientists, engineers and wet-lab scientists. The scientist keeps up with internal and external de novo protein design models, benchmarks them, and applies them in tight design–build–test–learn cycles to advance therapeutic programmes. The role is hybrid from Somerville, Massachusetts.

At a glance

  • Team: Model-Driven Design
  • Location: Somerville, Massachusetts (hybrid)
  • Pay: Listed on the posting (from $140,000 a year)
  • Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)

What you would do

  • Develop, validate and productionise de novo protein generation and optimisation protocols using measured data in the loop
  • Design and implement biophysical and functional in silico metrics for evaluating designs
  • Benchmark and integrate new design models across modalities
  • Identify what current approaches are missing and build reusable capabilities

Why this role matters

Generate was one of the first companies to put generative protein models at the centre of drug discovery, and it runs its own labs to test designs quickly. That closed loop between models and experiments is what turns AI protein design from impressive papers into real therapeutic candidates.

What Generate:Biomedicines is looking for

  • Deep structural biology intuition and experience applying protein design methods
  • Experience with modern generative protein models
  • Ability to work with experimental data in iterative cycles

Nice to have

  • Experience with antibody or biologic therapeutics

Pay and location

Generate lists a salary range on the posting; the lowest figure shown is $140,000 a year.

How to apply

Apply through the official Generate:Biomedicines job posting. Generate:Biomedicines’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. How to prepare for this application

  • Design cycles: show designs you made, tested and improved.
  • Metrics: in silico metrics you defined and validated matter.
  • Model breadth: list protein design models you benchmarked.
  • Structure intuition: explain design decisions in structural terms.

About Generate:Biomedicines
