Philips is hiring a Simulation Expert for MRI systems in Pune to build computational models, mainly in electromagnetics (RF and EMC) and selectively in thermal, structural and CFD domains, that guide research and development decisions for MRI scanner hardware.

What you will do

  • Develop and apply computational models, mainly electromagnetic (RF, EMC), and where needed thermal, structural and CFD, to guide MRI hardware decisions
  • Translate system and subsystem requirements into models with the right fidelity
  • Evaluate performance, safety and reliability through simulation and communicate results and limitations
  • Run concept, feasibility and trade-off studies, and integrate models across physics domains
  • Keep models credible, documented and traceable to internal standards and regulatory expectations
  • Plan modelling work, report to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers

MRI scanners depend on radiofrequency coils, strong magnets and careful thermal and safety design. Simulation lets engineers compare designs and check safety before building hardware, and the posting stresses model credibility and traceability in line with regulatory expectations.

What Philips is looking for

  • A master’s or PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, biomedical engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Ansys, CST, Sim4Life, COMSOL or MATLAB Simscape/Simulink
  • MATLAB and/or Python for modelling and automation (C/C++ a plus)
  • Medical technology experience, preferably MR R&D
  • A solid foundation in mechatronics, applied mathematics and physics, and a research mindset shown by publications or new modelling techniques

Nice to have

  • Turning system-level challenges into mathematical models
  • AI- or data-enabled modelling such as surrogate or reduced-order models
  • Work in global multidisciplinary R&D teams
  • Hands-on work with RF transmit/receive coils or birdcage resonators
