PsiQuantum’s System Design organisation is hiring a staff optical fiber link design engineer in Milpitas. The role designs the optical distribution network that connects the photonic chips, subsystems and control systems of PsiQuantum’s quantum computers: fiber routing, splice plans, optical I/O and link budgets that keep loss within the architecture’s limits. It also sets rules for splicing, connectors, cleanliness and handling, and qualifies advanced fiber components from vendors.

- 5+ years designing, validating and testing fiber networks and optical systems
- Fiber optics knowledge: loss, dispersion, nonlinear effects, polarisation and phase stability
- Advanced splicing, fiber handling and routing
- Optical test equipment such as power meters, OBR and OSA
Pay and location
PsiQuantum pays by US geographic zone. The posted base ranges are $208,300 to $244,700 (Zone 1: Bay Area and New York), $187,400 to $220,200 (Zone 2), $166,600 to $195,800 (Zone 3) and $145,800 to $171,300 (Zone 4), plus equity and benefits.
