IIT Roorkee’s Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is hiring a Junior Research Fellow to study the high-temperature tensile and creep properties of ODS GRX-810 alloys, under Dr. Vikram Dabhade, on a project funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

GRX-810 is a nickel-cobalt-chromium alloy strengthened by a fine dispersion of oxide particles, first developed by NASA for parts that must survive extreme temperatures. The oxide particles make it much harder for the metal to creep, or slowly deform, under load at high temperature. This project makes the alloy by a powder metallurgy route and measures how it performs.

- Process GRX-810 alloys by cryo-mixing and powder forging (the powder metallurgy route)
- Measure room- and high-temperature tensile and creep properties
- Carry out microstructural analysis
- Prepare scientific reports and research papers
The selected candidate may get an opportunity for Ph.D. admission, as per the institute’s rules.
Eligibility
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Ceramics, Mechanical or Production Engineering or allied branches; or an M.Sc. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or allied branches with Mathematics at undergraduate level
- A qualification in a national-level test, such as GATE or NET
Open to Indian nationals only. Among equally qualified candidates, SC/ST candidates will be preferred. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
