Job Description
The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, is holding a walk-in interview for a Project JRF studying the Entamoeba histolytica ribosome as a drug target for amoebiasis, in the lab of Dr. Prem S. Kaushal. Experience with protein purification and cryo-electron microscopy is a plus.
At a glance
- Position: Project-JRF (1 post)
- Project: Exploring the Entamoeba histolytica ribosome as a potential drug target to treat amoebiasis
- Pay: Rs 31,000 plus 24% HRA per month
- Duration: Up to 24 March 2027
- Upper age limit: 33 years as on 30 September 2026
- Walk-in interview: 24 September 2026, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Amoebiasis, caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica, remains a common intestinal infection in many countries, including India. Because the parasite’s ribosome differs in places from the human one, it is a possible target for new drugs, and cryo-electron microscopy can reveal those differences in atomic detail.
About the project JRF role
- Research on the Entamoeba histolytica ribosome as a drug target
- Laboratory work that may include gene cloning, protein and ribosome purification, and cryo-electron microscopy
Eligibility
- M.Sc. in Life Sciences with NET, DBT-JRF, GATE or an equivalent exam cleared
- At least 60% marks in the Master’s or equivalent degree
- Desirable: research experience in gene cloning, protein purification, ribosome purification and cryo-electron microscopy; good communication skills; strong motivation for a research career
Bring your M.Sc. mark sheet in Life Science or Biotechnology, your NET, DBT-JRF, GATE or equivalent certificate, and any peer-reviewed published manuscript.
Pay and duration
- Rs 31,000 plus 24% HRA per month
- Up to 24 March 2027
