Job Description
DTU Physics (SurfCat) is hiring a postdoc within AMPLE, an EU collaboration partly funded by Innovation Fund Denmark, to make proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers use less iridium and resist corrosion better. The postdoc will synthesise doped iridium oxide catalysts by chemical methods or sputtering, test them by rotating disk electrode and electrochemistry-mass spectrometry, and study them with surface science and synchrotrons. About the iridium catalyst postdoc
- Synthesise doped iridium oxide catalysts by chemical routes and/or sputtering
- Test catalysts for acidic oxygen evolution by RDE and EC-MS
- Characterise catalysts in the surface science lab and at synchrotrons
- Reduce iridium loading while improving corrosion stability

What DTU is looking for
- A PhD in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science
- Deep electrocatalysis insight
- Mandatory: extensive experience synthesising, characterising and testing electrocatalysts
- Motivation and teamwork
Nice to have
- Optimising loadings and measuring corrosion by ICP-MS
- Water electrolysis and surface science methods
Pay and location
Salary follows the Danish collective agreement for academic staff, with supplements negotiable under DTU’s salary structure; the advert gives no figure. The post is for one year, available from 1 November 2026.
