Job Description
DTU Physics invites applications for a faculty position in optical quantum information, at associate professor or tenure-track assistant professor level depending on experience. The post is in the Quantum Physics and Information Technology section and bigQ, and DTU wants someone who can build an internationally leading research programme. Current activities include continuous-variable quantum optics, optical quantum communication, quantum key distribution and photonic quantum information processing; DTU especially encourages applicants in integrated quantum photonics, such as chip-based quantum light sources, detectors and interfaces.

Responsibilities
- Establish and lead an internationally visible research activity in optical quantum information
- Publish at the highest international level and attract national, European and international funding
- Supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students and postdocs
- Teach research-based courses in quantum optics, quantum information, photonics or basic physics, and help build DTU’s quantum education portfolio
- Collaborate with DTU’s quantum groups and with academic, industrial and technology-transfer partners
Research environment
According to the call, DTU Physics currently works on continuous-variable quantum optics, optical quantum communication, quantum key distribution, photonic quantum information processing, field sensing with solid-state defects such as colour centres in diamond, optical quantum sensing and optomechanics. A strategic goal is to strengthen integrated quantum photonics, so DTU especially welcomes expertise in photonic integration, scalable optical quantum platforms, quantum photonic circuits, and chip-based light sources, detectors and interfaces. The call is intentionally broad, and strong candidates from the wider field of optical quantum information are encouraged.
What DTU is looking for
- A PhD (or equivalent)
- For associate professor level: qualifications equivalent to an assistant professorship and documented didactic or pedagogic training
- Fluency in Danish or English, with the expectation of learning both
- A research profile in optical quantum information; integrated quantum photonics expertise is especially welcome
Pay and location
Salary and terms are negotiated under DTU’s salary structure for scientific staff.
