Job Description
Analog Devices is building capabilities in integrated photonics, co-packaged and near-packaged optics, and optical control, and has opened a photonics lab in Wilmington, Massachusetts. It is hiring a hands-on Senior Photonics Systems and Characterization Engineer to bring up and measure demonstrator platforms in silicon photonics, microring modulators and next-generation optical interconnects.

What you would do
- Lead characterisation of photonic demonstrator platforms with optical, electrical, thermal and system-level test plans
- Measure optical spectra, high-speed modulation, bit-error rate, thermal tuning and resonances, eye diagrams and signal integrity
- Validate optoelectronic control loops and run die- and wafer-level measurements
- Correlate lab results with optical interconnect system requirements, and run the lab day to day

Optical links are replacing copper inside data centres because they carry more data using less energy, and co-packaged optics puts them right next to the chip. ADI is building a new photonics effort around this, so a senior engineer in its new Wilmington lab can shape both the measurements and the lab itself.
