What the Project Scientist-II will do
- Assist the Principal Investigator and Co-PI and coordinate with the team on project management and steering
- Collect, analyse and interpret primary and secondary data and literature on climate adaptation and resilience, hazard risk and vulnerability assessment, sectoral planning and human resource development
- Assist in conducting and organising meetings and training programmes
- Support project management and reporting as directed
Why this role matters
India’s adaptation planning is limited less by science than by the number of people who can turn it into something a state department can act on. ICARS sits at exactly that join: a national-level centre producing training material, capacity needs assessments and policy-linked case studies. For someone with a doctorate and field experience in disaster risk reduction, this is one of the few posts where research output and government training work are the same job, and the pay reflects that seniority.
Eligibility
- A doctoral degree in science, technology or management with two years’ research experience in human resource development projects and training, capacity building and case studies related to environment, DRR, climate change, adaptation, safety and similar areas; OR
- A Master’s degree in science, technology or management with five years of such research experience
The advertisement lists as desirable: experience in science-policy-practice interface projects, developing training manuals and policy-linked research case studies, and conducting trainings and workshops on climate change and DRR, green growth, adaptation and nature-based solutions for sustainability in a national-level training institute.
