BITS Pilani hires on two tracks. The on-campus track is for teaching and research. A separate off-campus track (WILP) hires industry professionals to teach working students. - Teach and run a research group in one of 13 departments: Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil, Computer Science and Information Systems, Economics and Finance, Electrical and Electronics, Mathematics, Management, Mechanical, Pharmacy, Physics, and Humanities and Social Sciences
- Computer Science openings cover AI and robotics, algorithms, architecture, software engineering and networks on several campuses
- Electrical and Electronics openings include VLSI, analog and RF IC design, embedded systems, radar, THz and quantum communication
- Other openings include process systems, organic and physical chemistry, finance, statistics, and pharmaceutics

Why this role matters
BITS Pilani is one of the few private institutes in India with Institution of Eminence status, and it hires across science, engineering, pharmacy and management at once. One application can reach up to four campuses.
Eligibility
- A PhD from a reputed institution, with a strong record in top-tier journals and conferences
- Industry or postdoctoral experience helps your application
- Three or more years as Assistant Professor elsewhere may qualify you for a higher entry level. The Selection Committee decides
- Professor-level applicants must show strength in teaching, research and administration
- If you have just submitted your thesis, you can still apply if you expect to finish within about 3 months

Pay and duration
- Entry basic pay, from the BITS pay table: Assistant Professor Grade II ₹75,300 (Level 11) and Grade I ₹1,01,500 (Level 12) or ₹1,31,400 (Level 13A1); Associate Professor ₹1,48,100; Professor ₹1,73,900; Senior Professor ₹2,11,300
- Dearness allowance is added, currently 60% of basic pay, with 3% annual increments
- New faculty (Assistant Professor Grade I and above) can get a New Faculty Seed Grant of up to ₹20 lakh
- Other benefits in the BITS document include campus housing (subject to availability), leave travel concession and 60 days of vacation

How to prepare for this application
