The application link for Biology goes live on 5 October 2026, so the window is short. Biology at IISER Pune accepts the broadest set of qualifying examinations of the departments open in this round, including GATE and JEST alongside the usual CSIR and UGC fellowships.
Eligibility
- A master’s degree in science with at least 60% aggregate marks; 55% for SC, ST and PwD candidates
- The department accepts a master’s in science; read its notice for the subjects it counts
- Each department sets its own list of accepted qualifying examinations, and IISER Pune does not treat them as interchangeable
Qualifying examination
Candidates must have qualified CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, JEST, GATE, JGEBILS or INSPIRE-PhD. This is the widest list of the four departments taking applications, and it is the only one of them that accepts GATE and JEST.

Fellowship and duration
