About Candidate

As a passionate researcher, I am deeply fascinated by the intriguing properties of light, especially photons, and their application in the rapidly advancing field of quantum communication. With a keen interest in the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, I am continually exploring ways to harness the power of photons and unlock their full potential for secure communication. Specifically, I am fascinated by the concept of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which promises to revolutionize the field of cryptography by enabling unbreakable encryption protocols. Through my research, I am committed to unraveling the intricate mechanisms of QKD and developing innovative approaches to advance the field of quantum communication. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of highly secure and reliable communication systems that can withstand the most sophisticated cyber threats, ultimately making the world a safer place.

Work & Experience

Research Fellow 2020 - Present

Experimental and theoretical work on single-photon and entangled-photon sources. Characterised a type-0 PPKTP crystal for its phase-matching temperature using spontaneous parametric down-conversion, generated heralded single photons by SPDC and carried out second-order correlation measurements to characterise them. Experienced with Michelson, Mach-Zehnder and Sagnac interferometers, and with PPKTP crystals, EMCCD cameras, time-to-digital converters (quTAG, ID900) and SPADs. On the theory side: treatment of type-0 and type-2 SPDC processes, simulated spectral profiles for type-0, quantum correlation and entanglement, and a review of QKD protocols including BB84 and BBM92.

M.Tech Project 2018 - 2020
IIT, Kharagpur

Explored theoretically the possibility of implementing a quantum walk using a combination of a polarisation beam splitter and a circular polarisation beam splitter, and examined the setup for a two-photon quantum walk, finding results that are purely quantum in nature with no classical equivalent.
