Job Description

IonQ is hiring a Group Product Manager for quantum networking and devices in its Networking and Security team. The role owns the full-stack product strategy for IonQ’s quantum networking systems: the photonic and atomic devices that generate and store entanglement, the quantum repeaters that extend it, and the control plane that distributes entanglement across a real multi-node network. It suits a systems thinker who can discuss photonics with research scientists and APIs with software developers.

What the role covers

• Own the multi-year roadmap for quantum networking and devices, balancing entanglement generation, repeater integration and the control plane against fidelity, rate, range and time to market
• Grow the quantum networking product line: find market opportunities, support sales and contribute to product launches and partnerships
• Lead hardware, software, research and go-to-market teams, turning physics-layer capabilities into product specifications and milestones
• Define how customers discover, schedule and use networking primitives through IonQ’s cloud and APIs
• Act as IonQ’s product authority on quantum networking with national labs, government sponsors, hyperscalers and enterprise partners
• Own the networking part of the product budget and present progress to executives and external audiences

What IonQ is looking for

• 8+ years of product management for technical, hardware-adjacent or research-driven products, ideally at the meeting point of devices and software
• A bachelor’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science or similar (or equivalent experience)
• Working fluency in quantum optics or photonics: ion–photon interfaces, entanglement protocols, photonic components and detector physics
• A solid grounding in classical networking: protocols, control planes, time synchronisation, latency, scheduling and reliability
• Experience shipping cloud or API (SaaS) products, and leading cross-functional programmes without formal authority
• Clear writing and speaking for executives, customers and external audiences

Nice to have

• An MS or PhD in physics, electrical engineering or a related field
• Hands-on product or engineering experience with quantum repeaters, quantum memories or QKD systems
• Experience with trapped-ion, neutral-atom or other matter-qubit platforms, and with US government or defence customers

Pay and location

IonQ lists a base salary range of US$145,920–191,047 for this role, with a total package that also includes bonus, equity and benefits. The job is based at IonQ’s Bothell, Washington office, with the option of working remotely a few days a week.
