Job Description

IIT Roorkee’s Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering is hiring a Junior Research Fellow to study protein-ligand complexes by NMR spectroscopy, on a GSBTM-sponsored project led by Prof. Krishna Mohan Poluri to develop inhibitors against FMO3 and TMA lyases, enzymes involved in the progression of atherosclerosis. Gut microbes use TMA lyase enzymes to turn nutrients such as choline and carnitine into trimethylamine (TMA), which the liver enzyme FMO3 converts into TMAO, a molecule linked to atherosclerosis. Blocking either step is being explored as a way to lower cardiovascular risk, and NMR spectroscopy shows exactly how candidate inhibitors bind to these proteins.

The selected candidate may get an opportunity for Ph.D. admission. On the notice, a printed pay figure is struck out and replaced by hand with Rs 31,000 plus HRA per month.

Eligibility

  • M.Sc. in Life Sciences or Biotechnology, or M.Tech in Biotechnology
  • GATE qualified
  • Experience with protein NMR is preferred

Open to Indian nationals only. Among equally qualified candidates, SC/ST candidates will be preferred. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

How to prepare for this application
