Eligibility
- A minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 in a master’s degree. The exact bar varies by discipline, so check the page for yours
- You must meet at least one essential criterion for your discipline. These are national fellowships and tests such as CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DST-INSPIRE PhD, GATE and JEST
- Age preferably not exceeding 30 years at the time of joining
- The essential criteria differ between disciplines. A test that qualifies you for one may not qualify you for another
Fellowship and duration
Scholars are supported through the national fellowship they hold, so the amount follows that award. The admission page does not state a figure, so check your own fellowship terms. The programme is full-time, and joining is set for January 2027.

Open the admission page, read the criteria for your discipline, then fill that discipline’s form. Applications are online only. Shortlists are expected between 25 and 30 October 2026, which leaves a short gap before the session begins.
