Job Description
Umeå University’s Faculty of Medicine is offering a PhD position within the national doctoral school BioLabX for biomedical laboratory scientists, in the project Oral Microbiome Eco-Mechanics: Host Genetics and Microbial Ecology. Genetic studies have linked specific human gene regions to differences in the oral microbiome; the project investigates how genetically determined traits such as saliva composition, glycans and tissue properties affect microbial adhesion, biofilm formation and function, combining human genetics, molecular biology, microbiology and microbiome analysis.

Pay and location
