Job Description
Prof. Daniel Globisch’s laboratory in Uppsala University’s Department of Chemistry for Life Sciences is hiring a researcher in chemical metabolomics for eight months. The job is method development and biomarker discovery in samples from liver and psychological diseases: designing chemoselective probes, extracting metabolites, running UHPLC-MS/MS and statistical metabolomics, and applying the lab’s chemical biology tools for studying microbiome metabolism. The post is 100% research and starts on 1 December 2026 or as agreed.

More about the group is on the Globisch laboratory website. The Department of Chemistry for Life Sciences works in analytical chemistry, biochemistry and organic chemistry, has more than 100 staff and students, and uses English as its main working language. Its location at the Biomedical Centre gives access to SciLifeLab infrastructure and to groups in biology, pharmacy and medicine.
What Uppsala University is looking for
- A PhD in bio(organic) chemistry, with further experience after the PhD, obtained by the employment decision
- Documented lab experience in chemical metabolomics, chemical synthesis, and mass spectrometry of human or mammalian samples
- Experience developing chemical biology tools, with phase II metabolism, and with chemoselective and bioorthogonal reactions
- Experience collaborating with medical scientists, and good English
Nice to have
- IELTS or TOEFL scores (desirable, not required at application)
Pay and location
Uppsala sets the salary individually; the advert gives no figure. It is a temporary, full-time post of eight months starting on 1 December 2026 or as agreed.
