Job Description

This LC-MS biosimilar characterisation job in Vadodara is with Sun Pharma’s R&D. You will build mass spectrometry methods that show how close a biosimilar protein is to the original medicine. The role suits someone with an M.Sc or M.Tech and 2–6 years of hands-on LC-MS work.

At a glance

  • Position: Senior Executive – Biotechnology (grade G11B; job 59894344)
  • Where: Vadodara (Baroda), Gujarat, India
  • Business unit on the posting: R&D1 Regulatory Affairs
  • Degree: M.Sc or M.Tech
  • Experience: 2–6 years of relevant experience
  • Apply: 31 October 2026 (the end date on the posting)

What the biosimilar characterisation scientist does

  • Develop LC-MS methods to characterise protein and peptide products, and qualify them for all pipeline products
  • Combine chromatography and mass spectrometry to measure product variants and impurities
  • Characterise batches of the original (innovator) product bought in different regions, and draft the quality target profile
  • Design advanced workflows: multi-attribute methods for PTMs, sequence variants, host-cell proteins, disulfide bonds, glycans and cell-culture metabolites
  • Use LC-MS, CEX-MS and SEC-MS, and analyse and interpret the data for the process development teams
  • Run and maintain the MS instruments in a GLP lab, write method reports and test procedures, and draft content for regulatory dossiers

Why this role matters

A biosimilar is approved only if its makers can show it matches the original medicine in detail. Mass spectrometry is the main tool for that proof. This role sits at the centre of how Sun Pharma’s biosimilars are developed and filed.

What Sun Pharma is looking for

  • M.Sc or M.Tech
  • 2–6 years of relevant experience
  • Technical expertise in biosimilar product characterisation
  • Hands-on LC-MS method development for proteins and peptides, and in-depth MS data analysis
  • Experience working in a GLP-compliant laboratory, including instrument calibration and troubleshooting

Pay and location

The posting does not state pay. The role is based in Vadodara, Gujarat, and no travel is expected. The posting carries an end date of 31 October 2026, but it may close earlier once filled.

  • Revise peptide mapping and how you find and quantify PTMs such as deamidation, oxidation and glycation
  • Be ready to explain the multi-attribute method (MAM) and its new-peak detection step
  • Review intact and subunit mass analysis, and native SEC-MS or CEX-MS for charge variants
  • Know the basics of the biosimilar similarity exercise and why innovator lots from several regions are compared
