About the quantum physics modeling scientist role at NVIDIA
- Build high-fidelity models of quantum devices grounded in device physics and calibration data
- Develop physics-informed data generation pipelines and advanced simulation models
- Validate models against hardware behaviour and system performance
- Work with Product, Engineering and Applied Research teams on accelerated quantum supercomputers
The posting describes models grounded in device physics, calibration experiments, decoding and system performance, together with physics-informed data generation pipelines. NVIDIA states that applications for this job are accepted at least until the date given in the posting, which is a minimum rather than a closing date; the role stays listed until it is filled. NVIDIA also says it uses AI tools in its recruiting process.
What NVIDIA is looking for
- A master’s degree in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics or a related field, with a PhD strongly preferred, or equivalent experience
- Eight or more years of combined, high-impact experience in quantum systems, physics-based modelling, simulation or related research
- Hands-on experience developing high-fidelity models of physical systems, including numerical simulation and model validation
- A strong background in quantum device physics and information science: noise models, error mechanisms and fault-tolerant systems
- A broad understanding of quantum control, including pulse-level interfaces and classical feedback
Nice to have
- Experience with scalable or accelerated computing for large simulations
- Work across more than one qubit modality
- Experience turning research models into production software
Pay and location
Base salary range 192,000 to 304,750 USD a year, as stated in the posting, plus equity and benefits
How to apply
Apply through the official NVIDIA job posting. NVIDIA’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 16 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application
- Model validation: prepare an example where your simulation disagreed with an experiment and how you resolved it.
- Noise modelling: revise common error channels and how they are calibrated and measured.
- Scale: be ready to discuss how you would accelerate a simulation on GPUs.
- Physics-informed ML: know where physics constraints improve data-driven models.
- Communication: the team spans product and engineering, so practise explaining models to non-specialists.
About NVIDIA's quantum computing group
NVIDIA builds accelerated computing hardware and software, and its quantum computing group works on the classical side of quantum computers: GPU-accelerated simulation, error-correction decoding, calibration and control. Its open platforms include CUDA-Q for hybrid quantum-classical programming and the cuQuantum SDK for simulation, and the group works with supercomputing centres and quantum hardware builders rather than building its own qubits.
