NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Applied Research Engineer for accelerator algorithms in Bengaluru to study real autonomous-vehicle and physical-AI workloads, find those that suit its Programmable Vision Accelerator (PVA), and turn them into optimised algorithms that shape future PVA hardware and software.

What you will do

  • Research and characterise real-world AV and physical AI workloads, including multimodal sensor processing, perception, sensor fusion and real-time control loops
  • Develop and optimise PVA algorithms using instruction-level parallelism, memory-aware scheduling, efficient data movement and vectorised execution
  • Turn workload insights into requirements for PVA hardware, compilers, SDKs, profiling tools and systems software
  • Build prototypes, benchmarks and performance models across current and future hardware
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to speed up analysis, algorithm creation and benchmarking
  • Work with internal teams and customers to integrate PVA-accelerated algorithms into products, and publish or present findings where appropriate

What NVIDIA is looking for

  • A BS, MS or PhD in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, robotics or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years in applied research, programmable accelerator algorithm design, computer architecture or high-performance computing
  • Experience with DSP, SIMD, VLIW, fixed-point arithmetic, memory hierarchy and low-level optimisation
  • Experience with HW/SW co-design, workload characterisation, performance modelling and bottleneck analysis
  • Familiarity with physical AI workloads such as VLA models, multimodal perception, sensor processing, autonomous systems or robotics
  • Strong C++, Python, CUDA or similar, and clear communication of technical trade-offs

Nice to have

  • CUDA, ROS/ROS 2, AV or robotics middleware, and heterogeneous compute pipelines
  • A research track record in computer architecture, autonomous systems or sensor processing
  • Safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508
