Job Description
The Department of Computer Science at LTH, Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering, is hiring a permanent senior lecturer in distributed large-scale software systems. The subject covers container architectures, distributed databases and stream-processing frameworks, with a focus on software architecture and high-level programming that make such systems robust, secure, private, efficient, scalable and flexible. The post belongs to ELLIIT, a strategic IT research partnership of Lund, Linköping, Blekinge and Halmstad universities, and the holder will teach and develop the master’s course in Distributed Systems (EDAP25).

About the department
LTH’s Department of Computer Science researches embedded systems, graphics, programming languages, software technology and engineering, robotics and AI. It takes part in the ELLIIT, WASP and NextG2Com research programmes, giving links to groups across Lund and other Swedish universities.
What LU is looking for
- A PhD, or equivalent research or professional expertise relevant to the subject
- Demonstrated teaching expertise
- Five weeks of training in higher-education teaching, or equivalent knowledge, unless there are valid reasons
- Very good spoken and written English
- Significant research experience from another university or institute, or relevant industry or public-sector experience
- Publications at leading venues such as SIGMOD, VLDB, IPDPS, CIDR, EuroSys, IEEE TPDS, ACM SOSP or USENIX OSDI
Nice to have
- Collaboration with researchers in other areas of computer science, or interdisciplinary work
- Reusable research artifacts and software tools published alongside papers
- Teaching courses in distributed systems or databases
- Experience from, or collaboration with, industry
Pay and location
Lund University sets salaries individually and paid monthly; the advert gives no figure. The post is permanent and full time in Lund.
